Can you believe that Fall Semester is almost over? There is only 6 more weeks until finals. The new Spring Semester Schedules are already here too, featuring our very own Zac Gruetzner of the Student Ambassadors . So if you see him around, ask for his autograph. Registration for next semester begins November 15. Start planning your schedules now!

Also lets not forget the Fall Festival coming up next weekend, October 27. It will be a blast. I will be at the booth making popcorn, come by and visit me.

Spring Semester Frenzy

Is everyone as busy as I am this semester?

I have to say I have double helpings on my plate this Spring. Working full time, full class load here at ACC, Student Ambassador events, and serving as Phi Thetta Kappa Vice President. It can be very difficult to juggle all of our responsibilities without becoming completely stressed and burnt out. Thank goodness Spring Break is just around the corner!

Sometimes I have to force myself to slow down and take a breather. If I don't take a moment or two to relax and recharge I have a hard time keeping my eye on the prize. Here are some suggestions you could try that work for me: read a book for pleasure (that's not school related), get a massage, "retail therapy", visit with friends (that I don't see very often due to busy schedule), or take a walk.

I can't believe it is already the end of February and graduation is in a couple of months. I am super excited that I will finally finish my goal! I will be graduating with an Associates Degree in Office Administration. The Office Administration program offers instruction in many skills that most of need everyday whether we plan to go into that career flield or not. The computer applications and word processing classes are valuable to anyone.
If any of you are scheduled to graduate in May the caps and gowns should arrive in the school store in approximately two weeks.

I had a great time with Liz and my fellow ambassador Karen at the Manvel High School Shutdown last week. We were able to provide students with information about ACC and encourage them to go to college. Blue made an appearance and was quite awesome. Being an ambassador has really helped me to get more involved in ACC be aware of resources I didn't know aobut before. I am having tons of fun and have the pleasure of so many new friends.

Just a reminder ACC Open House is next week on March 10th from 4-7 pm. There will be plenty of fun and games for everyone so mark your calenders.

Back In Action

Hello there fellow ACC students. If your anything like me your probably reading this because you don't want to do school work or study for an upcoming test like you should be. So here are a few words of advice from a guy who knows how to procrastinate and how to escape it.

1 You have to find a place away from everything that is considered entertainment to you.
ex: televisions, radios, music of any kind, xbox, PS3, FACEBOOK!!!
All of these things (except ps3) prevent me from opening my book and reading the chapters that i know i need to. I prefer the library to study, there are other people studying which makes me want to fit in and do the same. Plus there is always some cute girl up there that will see you studying and think your smart...hehe

2. Take your time. The more time you give yourself before the upcoming test, the more time you have to take breaks and prevent the dreaded cram session. You NEED breaks so it is ok to read for 10-15 mins then take a 2 min break. I prefer to studying for a good 20-30 mins then take a 15 min break. Yes i may be at the library for a couple hours but when it comes to test day i get out an extra 45 - 60 mins early.

3. Find study buddies. Studying alone is BORING and its not as easy to ask yourself questions and then answer them with out "accidentally" looking lol. Find someone in your class and befriend them and see if they would like to study with you some time. When someone asks you to study with them its pretty hard to say no with out sounding rude lol. Ask and ye shall receive.

4. Before you go to bed, after dinner or after your favorite TV show, read or even re-read a little. Only about 10 mins or so, nothing too bad.

Good luck with your classes and your year. Aim for that 4.0 gpa.

Student Ambassador Program

Mission Statement

Alvin Community College's Student Ambassadors represent the college both on and off campus. The program consists of students that demonstrate excellent communication skills and leadership potential. The Ambassadors provide information about current ACC programs and are a resource in the community.

Qualifications of Ambassadors :

• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
• Enrolled in at least twelve (12) hours at Alvin Community College
• Reliable transportation for off-campus events
• Availability for some evening and/or weekend events
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, outgoing personality, and have pride in ACC

A scholarship of $500 per semester will be awarded to each Ambassador chosen. Applications will become available online and/or the Marketing and Communications Office before each semester during designated dates.
