Graduation Is Next Month

I hope everyone is having a great semester. This semester has just flown by and graduation is coming up on May 10, 2011. Remember starting tomorrow you can pick up your graduation tickets. Due to the lack of space in the gym, ACC will have the lunch room open and the ceremony will be shown on the "BlueTube". This year ACC has a second option that is pretty cool, they have opened the ACC Theatre for seating and will show the entire ceremony on a big screen. I know I am excited, because I am one of the graduates crossing the stage! I have also had the honor of being President of Phi Theta Kappa, which is the Honor Society for two year colleges. If you are a member of Phi Theta Kappa, make sure you stop by the ACC bookstore and purchase your PTK stole and tassle, to be worn during the graduation ceremony.

Several of our ambassadors are graduating, which means Cammy and Liz will be needing to replace them. There will be an "Ambassador Session" on April 21, from 12:00 until 2:00 in the Texas Room. Kristy and myself will be there to conduct the session and answer any questions you might have about the Ambassador Program. You will be able to fill out an application, as well as have your initial interview on the spot. Being an Ambassador is a great honor, since you are the "Face of ACC", and don't forget about the $500 scholarship that goes along with that.

I have enjoyed being an ambassador for the last two semesters, and if it weren't for me graduating, I would do it again next semester. I have enjoyed every minute of my two years here at ACC and I will continue to take some courses that will enhance my degree. Enjoy this beautiful weather, and I look forward to seeing you around campus.

COUNTDOWN TO FINALS!

Is everyone ready for finals? I'm not but I am ready for it to be over and I can say YES, I passed!

This semester has gone by really fast for me and I am sure that it has gone by just as fast for you. For me I go to school full-time, work part-time with 2 wonderful ladies Cammy and Liz, I have a wonderful husband and 2 very active children that keep me going and also have clinicals on the weekend. This semester has flying by.

Don't forget Applications are online for the Ambassador Program, be sure to apply for the opportunity to get a $500 scholarship, mileage reimburesment, meet new people, recruit new students and help your community, all you have to do is donate 40 hours of your time within the semester you are applying. THAT'S IT! No fine print, no suprises! Only 40 hrs of donation to sign up for events around time or even on campus to get the word out about ACC and bring in students. Deadline for applications is November 23rd.

Who is ready for TURKEY?? Thanksgiving and Christmas have to be my favorite holidays because you get the Turkey and dressing twice within a month. Turkey and dressing and all of the delicious sides to go with it. Not to mention being surrounded by all of your loving family that you may not have seen in a while. I'm making myself hungry just thinking about it!

Well have a Great Thanksgiving! (16 days left, I'm counting!) and Good Luck on Finals!

ACC Booth at the Brazoria County Fair

This is my first, but hopefully not last, semester to be a Student Ambassador for ACC. I have met so many new friends and co-workers since being chosen for the Fall semester. Being an ambassador for the college gives me a sense of belonging, as well as pride to represent ACC. What a great way to earn a $500 Scholarship and have fun while earning it. I can't believe this semester is already half-way over. Applications for The Student Ammbassador Program will be out this week for the Spring 2011 semester. You can pick one up in the Marketing Office in the C Building.

This past week I worked the ACC booth at the Brazoria County Fair. We gave free popcorn to anyone who visited our booth, which then gave us the opportunity to tell them about our college and answer any questions they had. Giving away the popcorn was a great idea, because the aroma of the popcorn brought the entire crowd straight to our booth. But trying to keep up with the line of people wanting it was a task in itself. I know one night that I worked we gave away in excess of 2000 bags of popcorn. But just think how many students we may gain by just having contact for a brief moment with them. While waiting for their popcorn they were picking up information about our classes that are offered and asking questions about them. I also learned quite abit myself by just listening to the more experienced people.

This week I will be working at the Fall Festival and popping more popcorn! But this time we will be selling it to earn a little money for the Student Ambassador Program. The ACC mascot "Blue" will also be there and available to take pictures with you if you would like. The Fall Festival is a great way to celebrate Halloween with your kids and to insure their safety. There is also a costume contest for all the kids to enter, so come on out and have some fun with us.

Have a great week and I hope to see you at the Fall Festival on Saturday.

Your Student Ambassador,
Karen Leder
